Torrents! is a brand new mashup from the FreshMash group. Torrents! is a torrent/bittorrent search engine powered by TRYNT and Yahoo!*
While most traditional torrent search engines or trackers maintain their own database of torrent files, either through user submissions or torrent crawlers/scrapers, Torrents! is different. Torrents! replaces the traditional torrent database with the web index maintained by Yahoo! Torrents! is unique because it capitalizes on the efficiency of the Yahoo! search engine. The files within the bittorrent are then parsed by TRYNT.
The idea for Torrents! comes from Torrentspy. According to Torrentfreak, "A couple of months ago the BitTorrent search engine Torrentspy used this argument in a motion to dismiss a lawsuit initiated by the MPAA. Torrentspy said that that everything they do, Google can do better." After reading that we thought, "If Google can do it, why not Yahoo?" That being said we hope you enjoy Torrents!.
* No XML libraries are consumed, damaged or used by Torrents! Boy do we love RESTful Serialized-PHP!
